As mid-August approaches, fashionistas feel a subtle shift in the air—almost imperceptible, yet recognizable. Suddenly, wearing shorts no longer seems as appealing, and every time we open the wardrobe, our gaze lingers a bit longer on the blazer that hasn’t been worn in months. We know what’s happening—fall fashion suddenly emerges, patiently waiting for a day with temperatures below 20 degrees to make its glorious debut of the year.

Of course, summer is joyful on its own, but it would be hard to find someone who doesn’t welcome the beautiful and crisp fall days with open arms. As much as we love the warmer months, the drop in temperature that allows us to wrap up in a sweater and play with layers after months of minimal clothing is a welcome change. Focused on shape-defining silhouettes, eye-catching details, and luxurious accessories fit for everyday wear, this season’s trends seem to make dressing up fun again.

Fall trends wait for no one, and it’s time to adjust our priorities. From shades of green to the revival of leopard print and more, these are the fashion trends that will dominate the upcoming season.

Green Light

We may slowly say goodbye to the fluorescent lemon shade that became synonymous with summer 2024, but we won’t be removing green from our wardrobe. Olive tones will definitely dominate the fall, and their beauty lies in their ability to appear neutral. Instead of the sea of blacks, browns, and grays usually associated with fall, expect olive green to compete for the most worn shade this season.

A Modern Western

Between Beyoncé’s Texas Hold Em success and the popularity of coastal cowgirl aesthetics in 2023, fashion is well-versed in Western-inspired trends. But we’re not just talking about cowboy boots and hats. If you look at the designs from the fall/winter 2024 collections, you’ll notice they have one important detail in common – plenty of fringe. Its laid-back, bold appeal gained momentum earlier in the year and will continue to dominate this fall.

Forget layered necklaces—this season, dramatic necklines are the most sought-after accessory. Draped necklines appeared on the runways this year, adding a sculptural effect to leather tops, while designer skirts reminded us that it’s time to think about buying more turtleneck sweaters.

Leopard Prints

Sure, some would argue that leopard prints have always been in fashion, but it’s time to admit they’ve been on hiatus for a while. This year, however, fashion brands have returned to provocative designs, making us wonder if it’s time to pull that inflatable coat from the back of the closet.

Leather outfits are undeniably a central theme every fall. At this year’s Fashion Weeks, we saw various leather designs such as a maxi dress, a sophisticated trench coat, and long skirts that definitely elevate the look to another level.

Feather Coats

A year ago, the ‘Mob Wife’ trend emerged, characterized by heavy, floor-length feather coat designs. This includes a casual leather sweater that can be worn under a lighter jacket or a warm coat on colder days.

If you thought the red fever had subsided over the past 12 months, think again. The Fall/Winter 2024 collections brought many tonal variations—cherry and tomato. While this season continues to feature the bright cherry red tones we’ve become familiar with this year, we’ll also see more emphasis on its sensual and fall-ready sister, deep and sultry Bordeaux.
