Accessories for Summer – How to Choose the Right Sunglasses for Your Face
Although it may seem that sunglasses are universal, they should not necessarily be viewed that way. Of course, you can wear any pattern you like, as long as you enjoy it, but have you ever worn a pair that seemed like it was made just for you? You probably fell in love with it because it fits the shape of your face perfectly.
Sunglasses are not like clothes, as you cannot make them shorter or narrower if you get the size wrong. No matter how hard you try, they will always be too big, slip off your face, and you’ll need extra ways to keep them in place throughout the day. That’s why it’s so important to find the right size and frame style for your unique face shape, thus significantly enhancing your features.
The sunglasses that fit you perfectly help you balance your proportions and create an effect that makes you feel like a particular model was made just for you. They will seem more like an extension of your look rather than an accessory you accidentally included in your outfit.
Although it seems complicated, finding the sunglasses that fit the shape of your face is far from being a particularly complex science. First, you just need to determine what shape your face is, and we will help you with that afterward.
To find out your face shape, pull your hair back to see the complete outline. Determine the widest part of your face – is it the jaw, cheeks, or forehead? The answer will usually give the main indication of the shape, but you can also consider factors such as the shape of your jaw – round, angular, or pointed – as well as the length of your face – long or short. If you’re still unsure about your shape, you can outline your face in the mirror with lipstick or a marker to easily erase it.
► Round face – Your face is wider from cheek to cheek and tapers slightly at the forehead and jaw area. Your chin is usually aligned with the jawline.
► Square face – Your chin, cheeks, and forehead have the same width, and you probably have a pointed chin.

► Oval face – Your face is longer than it is wide. In other words, the length from the top of the forehead to the chin is greater than the length from one ear to the other.
► Heart-shaped face – The widest point is the forehead, and your face narrows at the jawline. Your chin may protrude below the jawline, forming the bottom point of the heart.
Square Sunglasses for a Round Face

The rule for finding beautiful sunglasses is generally that they have an opposite silhouette to the shape of your face. In this case, the best choice for a round face is square models. Angular lines and edges balance the roundness of your face, so avoid anything with soft lines and rounded edges. When shopping for sunglasses, look for rectangular frames with sharp edges or four corners, preferably with a thin frame.

If the square frame balances the round face, then the round frame balances the square face. Rounded and soft corners balance the strong features of the chin and the square forehead, which will soften the shape of your face. Look for round frames with soft lines for the pair that suits you best.
Aviator or Cat-Eye Sunglasses for Heart-Shaped Faces

Unlike other face shapes, the most flattering frame for heart-shaped faces mimics their shape. Aviator and cat-eye frames are wider at the top and narrower at the bottom, just like hearts, to accentuate your best features. Still, balance is important in proportions. If you have soft features, choose a smaller and thinner frame. If you have strong features, you can choose thicker or larger frames.
Large Round Frames for Oval Faces

Round sunglasses are generally wider, which helps balance the length of an oval face. Smaller frames can accentuate a narrow face, so larger models are the most flattering option to create the illusion of more width from cheek to cheek.
